  5. FOR ENHANCED PERFORMANCE

  8. A number of factors can influence the general performance of 
  9. CARS ON CD 97, the main ones being the speed of your CD player 
  10. and the speed of your computer's microprocessor.  The display may 
  11. also be a determining factor for less powerful computers.  
  12. The video sequences flow more smoothly with 256 colours.  
  13. With more than 256 colours, the video image quality increases but 
  14. the motion quality may be affected, depending on your computer's 
  15. performance.  On the other hand, the photographic quality of still 
  16. pictures is the same with 256, thousands or millions of colours.

  20. MPEG SEQUENCES
  21. --------------

  23. Certain of the video sequences are offered in MPEG format 
  24. (640 x 480 pixels) in addition to the regular format.  
  25. This option is only active if CARS ON CD 97 has found an 
  26. MPEG driver in your computer's configuration.  We recommend 
  27. you use a MPEG decompression board rather than MPEG software.  
  28. Note that some MPEG decompressors only work in thousands or 
  29. more colours.  Consult the literature for your board or 
  30. MPEG software for more details.

  34. INSTALLING Video for Windows (WINDOWS 3.11 ONLY)
  35. ------------------------------------------------

  37. CARS ON CD 97 contains video sequences that need the 
  38. Microsoft Video for Windows software.
  39.  
  40. If you do not have Video for Windows  and/or you obtain 
  41. the error message VIDEO PLAYBACK DRIVER NOT FOUND OR INVALID,
  42.  
  43. 1) Go to the VFW11e directory of CARS ON CD 97;
  44.  
  45. 2) Choose SETUP in the VFW11e directory and follow the 
  46.    instructions on the screen.

  49. to the README.TXT file in the VFW11e directory.

  53. INSTALLING WinG (WINDOWS 3.11 ONLY)
  54. -----------------------------------
  55.  
  56. WinG is Microsoft software that can enhance the graphic performance 
  57. of any multimedia application used with Windows.  WinG is not needed 
  58. to use the CD, but the software is designed so that it may enhance 
  59. its performance.  To install it, just choose SETUP in the WING 
  60. directory and follow the instructions on the screen.

  63. in the WING directory of this CD.

  67. IF YOU HAVE A PROBLEM
  68. ---------------------

  70. If CARS ON CD 97 does not seem to be working properly, make sure 
  71. that your system meets the minimum requirements for using the 
  72. software.  This information can be found on the product packaging.

  74. CARS ON CD 97 needs 8 MG of RAM to operate.  Quit all Windows 
  75. applications before using CARS ON CD 97.

  82. If the image on your screen seems altered,

  84. - select the 640 x 480, 256 colour video mode;
  85. - deactivate the video enhancement functions.
